The Animation Breakdown:
Before I start, I need to confess something. 90% of the animation I specifically made to showcase in this reel, and the other 10% are older animations I have done in the past.
Everything you will see below was made from scratch. Let’s begin!
It all starts with an idea, and then visualizing that idea into a storyboard

      The Dancing Music Robot
I had modeled and rigged the robot before adding it to the storyboard. Here’s my process:
Software used: Krita 5, Blender 3.6; Davinci Resolve and Figma
The 3D text with the white ball was made as a separated project, using the same background image as in the robot scene
The Splash
And yes, the blue dragon-like creature is done in 3D (Blender 3.6)
Software used: Krita 5, Blender 3.6, After Effects, Davinci Resolve
The coffee splash is done in 2d. More specifically, it’s combined frame-by-frame and composed in After Effects. You can import image sequences in After Effects, which allows you to use different programs and mediums.
In short, I did my frame-by-frame animation in Krita 5, then exported it as an image sequence; from there, the rest of the 2D work and text animations were done in After Effects. The dragon was modeled and rigged in Blender 3D 3.6. Again, I rendered that animation into an image sequence and imported it into After Effects. The result:
The Longest Scene
I call this the “longest scene”, not because of the duration of the shot. It took me quite some time to finish it and glue everything together for no apparent reason.
The Jungle Scene
I wanted a colorful 2D shot in my animation reel, with a simplistic illustration style. At the time I was inspired by watching the historic documentaries about the lost civilizations. So I started with the design of the “main” character and the totem. 2025 is the year of the wooden snake since I already wanted to add a symbolic dragon eating my character, aka. The year of the dragon 2024. I needed to
animate a snake as well.
Software used: Procreate, Krita 5, After Effects
After I nailed down my design and the concept colors and composition for the scene, I had to animate the snake, which looked like this in the beginning:
Frame-by-frame is a pretty consuming process; the result, however, can be interesting if done right.
After coloring and placing everything together, the rest of the animations as the leafs and bushes were done all in after effects. The transition between the Splash scene and the Jungle scene was done as a ripping paper effect. I thought it would be interesting, instead of a boring cut shot.
The Ship
I wanted this scene to look stylistic, so even when modeling the ship, I made some adjustments. The canons are in front of it instead of being on the sides. This was a personal choice.
Software used: Blender 3.6
Filler Animations:
In this section, I will only briefly mention the rest of the animation shots. The Chess sequence is taken from my Short 3D Animated Film (all done in Blender 3D). I did a special section for it, you can check here:
I did create some stand-alone scenes with different objects, some of which I tried to use as transitions between shots. This includes: flipping coin, vinyl record and bear playin the drumbs.
